NGO’s urge to put constraint on Child labor

Different social organizations are working for the upliftment and improvisation of child labor in India and they all have been interconnected to remove the hazards and risks of child labor. Recently, a seminar was also held on “Sensitization and Awareness on child labor and child rights”. It was estimated that in every year, approx. hundreds of children below 14 years of age are released from different states and all of them face the problem of rehabilitation and reestablishment. These children were bereaved from the benefits of varied government schemes that are destined for them, issued by different government organizations.

Around 50 children belonging to different age groups are rescued from brassware industry located in Moradabad and they were forced to work as bonded labor there. As per a discussion with them, they were captivated to abuse and discuss about the health hazards at their workplace. In pursuit of government schemes like “Sarva Shiksha Abhiyaan”, in urban slums, several programmes have been running that proffers free education to children along with meals available twice a day.

NGO’s are suggesting some more ideas to government on tackling the issues related with child labor, which have extremely affected the economy, hence society. Chairman of Satya NGO has affirmed a model; according to which saved children will impel other child labors to leave commercial activities. One more suggestion has been passed, which depicts the need for bonded vigilance committee in each district, monitoring the child labor activities in the state and the committee members must be from police, judiciary and individuals working for child labor cause and social activists.
